In November 2021, Stu's brother presented him with a couple of vintage Gibson guitars which led to his exploring the music of Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt and other guitar luminaries of the day. That exploration led to successful Pausa appearances with Ed, focusing on jazz guitar from the 30s - 80s. Following their last performance Stu turned to Ed "...we should incorporate some Western Swing into the mix". Ed's reply: "I know just the guys".
From Bob Wills to Benny Goodman the swing music of the day reflected the heavy influence of guitarists Eldon Shamblin (Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys), Freddie Green (Count Basie) and others notably from the Oklahoma area. From the familiar to the obscure, Swing Street will present a vocal and instrumental collection of songs which capture the essence of this music, while highlighting the individual talents of its members and its unique personnel blend.
Ed Croft will be forgoing his usual bass duties to play a vintage Gibson ES 150 guitar along with Paul Todaro on upright bass and vocals ,Jim Whitford on pedal steel, and Stu Weissman on guitar.
